The Paris Agreement is clear. We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground to avoid catastrophic climate change.
Many folk in Dorset are stepping up to this challenge, and asking that Dorset divests from fossil fuels – that we dispose of our assets invested in it and that we refuse oil and gas companies permission to drill for it.
In December 2015, just after the Paris Climate Agreement was signed, the latest round of UK onshore oil and gas licences were issued. This seemed odd to a lot of folk. Why should we be looking for new oil and gas when globally we’d just agreed we need to keep it in the ground?

New groups are forming alongside existing ones to stand up to a Government energy policy that appears to make no sense with regard to climate change.
